It helped me to know for true how to find a good job. I think if someone is just getting started this would be the first place I would recommend. A Letter to the Transition to Work Program
I am Rachel Smith. I joined the Transition to Work program in the late part of July 2007. I really wasn’t who I am today. The program has helped not only me, but many others to find jobs, work on skills they needed, go out in the community to meet different employers and find a part of themselves they didn’t know existed.
When I first started TTW I didn’t know that were people just like me out there looking for a chance to show employers what they had to offer. TTW has helped me gain experience, self-control and learn that change is for the best.
I had been on ten different WEP (Work Experience Placements) in all-different careers. I had an awesome time, but in the end it didn’t work out. If I hadn’t of been on so many WEP’s I wouldn’t have the skills and confidence I have today.
Within my last few months at TTW I met this wonderful lady our new employment counsellor Shauna Glidden. Even though I missed Sheila Dick, I worked hard and learned that Shauna had a lot more to offer us and she is a very smart lady. On my last day at TTW on April 3, 2009 she told the group she would be leaving the last part of April 2009 and I just wanted to say “Thank You Shauna!” for helping us all. Also, I wanted to “Thank You Trevor!”. You make everybody laugh, don’t stop doing that. I am glad I had the opportunity to have met you guys both. Keep in touch.
Even though I am gone from the program I really hope that everybody remember my time at TTW because I know I won’t forget this wonderful experience I have had. Other people just like me can get out into the community and learn new skills, become happier with themselves with TTW’s help.
I know the program will continue to do wonderful things for other people. It will always be there for that one person that just needs a chance to shine.
I wanted to say “Thank You!” not just to Lisa and Roger, but to the whole Flowercart and Service Canada for doing such a good job at making this program be possible and successful.
Thank you, everybody, with TTW’s help I am now going for my dream which is to become a horseback riding instructor and I want to work with people that have physical and mental barriers. I think horses are the one thing that people with those barriers can contact to. Wish me luck. Goodbye is not a real goodbye, it’s a see ya soon! |
